Vutec this week announced the hiring of several Manufacturer’s Representative firms for its Home Theater division. 

Appliance maker Electrolux is moving 80 jobs in its division developing better clothes washers and dryers from Iowa to its North American headquarters in North Carolina.

Electrolux said Tuesday that product design and testing will be discontinued at the company's Webster City, Iowa, site in the third quarter of next year. The move will increase its employment in Charlotte to more than 800.

The Sweden-based appliance maker moved its North American headquarters from Georgia to Charlotte in July 2010

Lenovo, the world's second largest PC manufacturer, will open a production plant in the US with the first units scheduled to roll off the production line in 2013. The new facility is designed to not only produce PCs but smartphones and tablet devices as well. Lenovo's new Whitsett, North Carolina site is expected to create 115 jobs.

The company's US headquarters is based in Morrisville, NC, an hour east of the factory location. The company claims the new factory will allow the company to be more flexible and respond to US
