Longtime New York retailer J&R Music and Computer World is getting back into business- as a boutique a block away from its longtime, now-shuttered location.
J&R Music and Computer World, which took up a block on Lower Manhattan's Park Row for the past 43 years, will shut its doors Thursday, in order to make room for development of what the owners hope will become an "unprecedented retailing concept and social mecca," according to a letter posted Wednesday on store doors and the store's website by owners Rachelle and Joe Friedman.

J&R Music and Computer World announced this week that it will open a new J&R Jr. Super Boutique for Kids later this month. The new store will open next to the original J&R at 1 Park Row in lower Manhattan.
