The radio conglomerate ClearChannel announced Monday that it will begin broadcasting its Total Traffic Network in the HD Radio format to nearly 50 major cities, providing a boost to HD Radio at a time when the future of the medium is in question. Previously, the Total Traffic Network data was provided mostly through GPS devices; concurrently with the HD Radio announcement, ClearChannel also announced that it is expanding the traffic network into 19 markets, including Montreal, Toronto, Rochester, N.Y., Fort Myers, Fla., and Tucson, Ariz.
