Behind the just-announced decision by security and low-voltage product distributor ADI to carry Sony’s complete line of LCD TVs, home entertainment and audio/video equipment there were many reasons, but the move was part of a larger initiative, said Michael Flink, president, ADI Americas.

Distributor ADI announced a “strategic alliance” with emerging display manufacturer Planar Systems under which ADI will offer numerous Planar home theater front projectors and LCD flat panels, as well as its Xscreen ambient-light-rejection screen. ADI will distribute Planar’s entry-level PD4010 480p projector and the 720p PD7010 and PD7060 models.
