December of 2009 was the best month for gaming sales in history, as both the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 had their strongest month ever.

More and more kids are using consumer electronics devices, with more than a third of children between the ages of 4 and 14 owning a portable music player and one in four having their own video game console.

According to recently released report from the NPD Group, the average age that children begin using consumer electronics devices has decreased for the third consecutive year. The survey discovered that the popularity of CE products such as portable digital media players, portable video games and digital cameras among younger children has helped drive the average age down to 6.7 years old - down slightly from 6.9 years old in 2006, but a huge jump form 8.1 years old in 2005, the year NPD Group began tracking ages.
