Cammie Dunaway

The Nintendo Co. executive leading U.S.-based sales and marketing is leaving to take a job outside the video-game industry.

Executive Vice President Cammie Dunaway's departure from Nintendo of America is effective Oct. 1, the company said today in an e-mailed statement. Nintendo, the maker of the DS handheld and Wii console, did not name a replacement.

Nintendo announced Tuesday that the Wii video game system has sold its 30 millionth unit since its release in November 2006.

NPD revealed sales figures for software and hardware for the month of June earlier today, and the results were dramatically predictable. As expected, the DS took home the honours of being at the top spot, with the Xbox 360 edging out the Wii for a first place victory, spurred no doubt by the release of the new redesign.
