Russound is launching a Certified Installer Program for its Internet-based products to protect against their being bought through unauthorized sources while ensuring they will be installed by certified CIs.

Russound has partnered with Spotify and will offer firmware updates so that its portfolio of streaming products will support the streaming service, the company announced Friday. Spotify Connect will be made available in the company’s XStream X5 distributed audio system component, the DMS-3.1 digital media streamer with AirPlay, and the MCA-88X streaming multi-zone controller digital amplifier. Major revisions to Russound’s apps will also support Spotify, said Colin Clark, product marketing manager.

Russound Friday announced several products which it plans to feature at CEDIA Expo in Denver next month. These include controllers and upgraded accessories and speakers.

Industry veteran Mike "Sparky" Detmer has joined Russound as vice president of sales and marketing, the company said Wednesday.
