Joseph M. McGuire, the president of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), testified before a U.S. Senate subcommittee last week, in consideration of new safety legislation. Appearing on behalf of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), McGuire testified on the subject of reform of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The subcommittee is considering legislation to reform the commission; the bill, S.2045, was introduced by the subcommittee chair, Sen. Mark Pryor [D-Ark.] McGuire’s testimony was before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee’s Subcommittee on Consumer Affairs, Insurance and Automotive Safety.
