Sales numbers released recently by NPD Group reveal that in June, the Nintendo DS portable outsold all other gaming systems of any type in the U.S. With sales boosted by the DS Lite, total sales for the system account for more than a third of June’s purchases in that category, nearly 600,000 units. One of the system’s titles, “New Super Mario Bros.” achieved top-selling game status for the second month in a row with 450,000 units sold. Nintendo of America says that its Nintendo World store, to be located in New York City's Rockefeller Center, will open on May 14, 2005.   The two-story, 10,000 square-foot gaming space will be open seven days a week to showcase Nintendo products and applications. The store, says Nintendo statements, will feature exclusive merchandise, games and interactive kiosks.
