George Sherman

A top Best Buy executive who oversees Geek Squad is leaving the company, the Star Tribune has learned.

Spokeswoman Paula Baldwin confirmed the exit of George Sherman, senior vice president for services, in an e-mail Wednesday. "We wish him well," Baldwin wrote.

Geek Squad plays a major role in the Richfield-based retailer's strategy to lessen its reliance on retail sales by expanding into more profitable services. Best Buy acquired the little known computer-repair business in 2002. Geek Squad founder Robert Stephens left Best Buy last year.
