“I don’t think anyone knows the correct formula for search engine optimization,” says Jay McCartney, Crutchfield’s senior Internet analyst. “But anything we can do to help the major engines find us is part of our strategy.” McCartney says Crutchfield is currently looking into a new site sponsored by Google, Yahoo!, and MSN called “sitemaps.org” that allows retailers (and others) to submit an XML feed of a Web site’s structure directly to the engines.
