Vizio is rolling out three 1080p high-definition flat-panel TVs – the first products in the XVT (for eXtreme Vizio Technology) range it is launching this summer and fall. The XVT designation, the company said, might not be limited to TVs but could also encompass products in categories where Vizio has yet to be represented. The LCD manufacturer Vizio announced this week that it has awarded its inaugural “Vizio Top Value Performer” award to quarterback David Garrard of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The award was selected by a fan vote, with the criteria being the NFL player who “outplayed his salary by the widest margin.” Garrard, whose $1.1 million salary placed him 28th among the 32 NFL starting quarterbacks, was named the Jaguars’ starter late in training camp after they cut starter Byron Leftwich. The flat-panel TV maker Vizio announced Tuesday that it has signed LaDainian Tomlinson, the San Diego Chargers running back who was named the National Football League’s Most Valuable Player last season, to an endorsement deal. The running back will appear in print and television advertising, while also making personal appearances at events. The television ads will feature Tomlinson speaking about his various life experiences; during one, already filmed and soon to debut, the running back will be seen in front of his Vizio, watching a Texas Christian University football game.
