Nearly half of Americans who own HDTV technology are unable to actually receive high-definition programming, and up to a quarter believe incorrectly that they’re watching in HD. That’s according to a survey by Leichtman Research Group that was reported Monday in the Rocky Mountain News. Leichtman attributed the high-def gap to certain programs not yet being available in HD, as well as various cable companies and satellite providers failing to make the necessary hardware available, and/or customers neglecting to sign up for it.
