CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro said at the organization’s Industry Forum Tuesday that the upcoming 2008 CES – besides all the customary bells and whistles attendees have come to expect at the annual Las Vegas convocation – will feature a bevy of new programs that focus on content, cars and technology development in emerging countries. The show will also have two panels – one after the other – trained on the subject of the analog-to-digital TV conversion and on the industry’s DTV coupon program, on Monday, Jan. 7. The National Electronics, Home/Office and Appliance Industries Division of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) raised a record $550,000 for ADL 's fight against prejudice, bigotry and discrimination during a testimonial awards ceremony and dinner dance to honor Bill Casamo, Michael O'Hara and Phil Schoonover. ADL presented Bill Casamo, president of DirecTV Merchandising Inc. and executive vice president of DirecTV, with its American Heritage Award. Michael O'Hara, senior vice president at Thomson Consumer Electronics, received ADL's S. David Feir Humanitarian Award.
