Roughing Up RFID It’s been a rough month for RFID. The investment community’s technology darling, which promises to revolutionize everything from retail to global tracking, was trounced in a cover article in the Wall Street Journal late last month, with the revelation that the Wal-Mart pilot studies had been turning up with “fizzling” results. However, an interview with Wal-Mart RFID chief Simon Langford in RFID Journal contested the findings, saying that Wal-Mart Stores remains committed to its use of radio frequency identification in its supply chain, and is already seeing quantifiable benefits.
