ADI announced Wednesday that Tom Galanis, formerly of Sixth Avenue Electronics, has joined the company as senior product marketing manager for residential and commercial A/V.
Behind the just-announced decision by security and low-voltage product distributor ADI to carry Sony’s complete line of LCD TVs, home entertainment and audio/video equipment there were many reasons, but the move was part of a larger initiative, said Michael Flink, president, ADI Americas.
As part of its restructuring, 6th Avenue Electronics will expand into smartphones and tablet computing, under a plan that’s been in motion since before CES. The company hopes to begin selling the iPad in March.
6th Avenue Electronics will establish new appliance and gaming divisions within all of its 17 stores, including a new one planned for Pennsylvania, under a rollout that will begin immediately in its Wilmington, Del., store.
CE and appliance retailers aren't letting the tinsel grow under their feet this year.
