The first-ever BlackBerry device to feature a touchscreen will surface “soon,” according to a promotional e-mail from carrier Verizon that was obtained by Reuters. Research in Motion’s BlackBerry Storm 9530 will arrive “very soon,” although no specific release date information has been announced. Ever since the release of the original iPhone last summer, competitors from LG to Samsung have come out with touchscreen smart phones of their own. On Tuesday the touchscreen G1, the first handset released on Google’s Android platform, was unveiled in New York; that phone will arrive in October.
