Celebrity Guest Tweeting #FTW!
I'd like point out a promotion over at the @SOLrepublic Twitter account, because it is an awesome example of how a CE company can get the most out of social media.
SOL Republic is a headphone company founded by Kevin Lee (the son of head Monster Noel Lee). Their Twitter account has been taken over for the day by DJ Cosmo Baker (Who used to spin right down the street from our office at Silk City, shout out to Philly!).
Cosmo went all out on his Twitter account and SOL Republic's, sending out Tweets about SOL Republic headphones, interacting with fans, giving away prizes, and sharing the details of his day.
To complete the takeover, SOL Republic even slapped Cosmo's photo on top of their own profile pic.
I hope we see more CE companies working these types of celebrity guest takeovers. The company and the celebrity both win in terms of exposure. It gives a corporate account a chance to get edgy, and gives the regular followers a break from stuffy self-promotion.
This is a perfect combination. Who better to testify to the quality of headphones than a DJ? And I think the execution was flawless. I'm putting this one on my list of things to do.
