As we get ready for the New Year, we wanted to take this opportunity—our last Week in Review before the end of the year—to talk about something new and exciting that’s coming to our CE Week platform in 2019.
As you probably know, CE Week is our annual mid-summer consumer tech trade show that gives brands the opportunity to put their product in front of some of the most important influencers in the consumer tech space, be it on the retail side, key distributors, buying groups, the press, and more.
A little over a year ago, we announced a major new partnership with IFA, the Berlin-based consumer tech trade show that saw the well-established brand take ownership of CE Week. The partnership almost immediately paid off in our move into the much more spacious Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City in 2018. And now, with our sights set firmly on 2019, the partnership gets even deeper.
This week, we unveiled that IFA will make its incredibly powerful Virtual Market Place platform available to CE Week exhibitors and attendees.
What makes IFA a show unlike any other you’ll find in the consumer tech space is that it’s first and foremost all about creating business opportunities—and getting things done. Order volume for deals struck during IFA 2018 in September totaled some 4.7 billion Euros this year—more than $5.3 billion USD.
A major component of the business side of IFA over the past two decades has been the employment of the IFA Virtual Market Place, dubbed the “official online catalogue” for IFA exhibitors. This tool gives visitors access to a collection of more than 2,500 products that are registered through the platform. According to IFA, there are more than 1,100 networkers who are registered through the platform, though the Virtual Marketplace has racked up 600,000 unique visitors and more than 2.5 million page views through the end of November.
Beyond opening up the door to potential business opportunities, the IFA Virtual Market Place provides users with a show experience that extends throughout the entire year. Whereas CE Week attendees will only have a few days to meet and talk business, the Market Place is “open” year-round.
Needless to say, the Virtual Marketplace is going to be a game changer for CE Week 2019 and one that we’re excited to roll out to our exhibitors as they get signed up for the show.
So with that, we want to wish you a happy holidays, and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
